What is your goal

I can see not wanting to fly for money, I think ill always want to fly for fun though. I imagine I'll make more money from other endeavors besides flying and I could cook all day and that would make me happier than a pig in... but I would still want to fly for fun. What are the things you love?

Perhaps I will when the time comes but I have things I love more that would occupy my time and money. It would probably be something very different if I did continue to fly. I don't know, learn to fly a sailplane or something. Post retirement I plan to spend my time bird hunting, fly fishing, and training retrievers for field trials. The latter alone takes most of my current free time and is a bit of an obsession.

I've had way more fun in my 15 hours in a King Air than my 700+ hours in a C172. Unless it was my C172 time on floats... Getting paid to fly something buoyant would be pretty cool!

I don't know what you were doing In either of those situations, but my time in King Airs has been mostly on Auto Pilot, while my 172 time as a pipeline pilot has been considerably more exciting.

I would love to fly floats though.

Yeah, Pipeline > Aerial Survey for sure! I can't wait until I can have enough income to bum around Minnesota on floats. Best 5.6 of flying I've ever had :-)

I'm glad John started that thread. I was so sure I had a new job last month. But yeah it didn't happen. So time to put myself back together and work on me. And make some time for the JC Vegas.

I want a Part 91 DOM gig on a G-650 that I only work on from an office and will go to the service centers until I retire. That way I'll have plenty of time for other interests and have the money.

I'd like to make good money with a lot of time off. Also, it'd be nice to not have to throw boxes anymore. I'd also like to fly gliders, that'd be pretty awesome.

Find a good enough flying job that pays well enough, with a small enough amount of flying to still want to fly for fun on my many days off. Gliders and warbirds in particular.

As far as the aviation appliances go, I suppose, like most everyone else, that I'd ultimately like to wind up at a top tier legacy or freight outfit. Widget and UPS would be my personal preferences, for geographical and sentimental reasons.

But aviation appliances don't exactly fill up my limbic system anymore (if indeed they ever did). I'm more interested in my other goals, like world domination.

Be able to afford a house in the burbs of a nice area to live, start a family with my wife, own a nice fifth wheel RV and have enough vacation time to travel with said family.
