What is the minimum pilot age requirement at your airline? What is the youngest age person you have seen hired?
21 here. We've had a few guys (not recently obviously) have to wait to upgrade because they couldn't hold an ATP due to their age.
If you're under 21 and are eligable to go to a regional you really have to think about it first, if it's worth it. There's a reason why most 18-21 year olds work at Mcdonalds, and are not flying multi million dollar airliners and hundreds of people a day. You really have to be mature and ask yourself if you're up for it. You'll be in a small minority too, most regional pilots are in their early 20s coming out of college to mid 30s with a wife and kids. There's going to be a social barrier as well especially if you're under 21. You will most likely also miss out on the college life, 18-21 should be a time of exploration, instead you're going to be swinging gear and spending half the time in a hotel room missing that part of life. Finally, you will have to wait to be eligable for an upgrade until you turn 23 and you will always have to deal with the untrusting passengers when they see a kid walk up to the airplane. And that's gets really annyoing even for some in their late 20s!
