What happens in August?

What happens in August to the new hires that are still in training or people already on the line that don't have ATP minimums? Just curious since regionals are still hiring below atp mins when there is no way a new hire (even hired tomorrow) can have the required time by the effective date.

We have 2 or 3 guys that will not meet the age requirement. My understanding is they are dequalled from line flying and are going to wait it out. While I don't know how long any has to wait, from what I understand is if the wait is long enough they will have them doing instructing or something to earn their paycheck. The company cannot NOT pay them though. They can make them do other things though.

What company is that? 9E has a Letter of Agreement sending those without ATP requirements to the unemployment line. They retain seniority only. Sad thing is there will be quite a few more than 2 or 3 and the company doesn't seem to care one bit. Oh and I'll probably get a junior man call tonight so nah we probably don't need them anyway.

Sounds like a good opportunity to work on a bachelor's degree for those who haven't already done so.

I don't know. I think it's tough to scream unfair when this has been on the books for so long. Those that don't have the minimums certainly have had time to look at plans B and C. If you can do something else and still retain a number, that seems like a silver lining.

Good luck to those of you who are affected by this.

ZW. Our union would sue them so fast if they attempted to bag those that didn't meet the requirements, it would make their head spin. It is not the fault of the pilot. They were hired long before any mandated ATP rule came out. Nowhere in our contract does it say you can be canned for what the FEDs put out.

When you've been scheduled to limits...ah, never mind.
