I was just looking at the ATP website today and noticed that they took off the fact that ATP students got hired at Colgan. No picture of Colgan, no Airline placements for Colgan?? LOL Seriously? I am one of the Colganites that attended ATP and I think its kinda messed up that they took us off. I payed my million dollars to go there... I deserve it! LOL!!!!

FlightSafety did the sim training for the Q400 for the 3407 crew.

They're getting sued. I'd imagine that flight schools every where are disavowing knowledge of Colgan Air to avoid getting in the line of fire.

Brew,

Dont worry about it. No one that cares that you did your training at ATP.
There are ATP trained people all over the industry.
Your focus should be on your future...and getting out of Colgan with your certificates and rear-end in one piece.

Well Obiviously.... I just thought it was funny! Even our cute pictures were taking off

I think they got rid of the hiring stuff because nobody is getting hired. They can't sell the idea of getting your ratings quickly and getting hired quickly when none of their former students are getting hired. Just another way that ATP is hoping prospective students won't realize their program is not what it used to be.

Wouldn't it be fair to say that the program is the same, but the job market has changed?

True, I guess I should have said their program won't get you anywhere like it used to. Being a 200 hour pilot with $40,000 in loans isn't going to do you much good right now.

It gets you ratings at a pretty darn good price and the ability to start flight instructing and gaining hours and experience for the next hirng wave. If it is going to be 1500 hours minimum for someone to be an FO, best get started now.

It looks like there will be some hiring this spring to get the instructor ranks cleared out.

Everyone needs to remember that the 1500 rule only applies to 121. You can still get hired at a 135 outfit as an FO with 250 hours.

They have 3 years after they pass the bill to get rid of those.

Yes, but no. With all the pilots with multi-thousand hour resumes on the street, it'll be a few years before we deplete those ranks.

By the time the grandfather clause expires (just in time for the new hiring wave of retirees...) the ATP requirements will kick in.

Good times.
