Ok I'll bite. Im rather bored, so perhaps actually listing it all out will find me a way or two to lighten the load.
I have a backpack. (Makes life easier when riding a motorcycle to work on the odd day I feel like it it).
- Headset
- Trifold kneeboard (i have a specific way ive organized things since PP, and i like it!!!) it holds my certificates, medical, school specific checklists, e6B, high speed instrument cover made from a pizza box and my scratch paper.
- Ipad Mini-2 w/ folding case and of course ForeFlight Pro....slips nicey onto the kneeboard.
- Garmin external GPS receiver. Works way better than the standard wifi only Ipad I have.
- Paper LA sectional, San Diego TAC, LA TAC, and Low IFR chart...most of the time current. Ive had my Ipad overheat, crash and just go screwy, on several checkrides in fact (Commercial Single, CFI and CFII). I teach my students throughout private only using the paper charts. Plus it feels like CYA for good ole 91.13/91.103.
- Portable Radio w/ built in localizer tracking. Typically its just stored here for when I solo students and I like the SHTF coverage it provides.
- Foggles
- Kitchen Timer...habit from my IRA training. Clocks we had sucked so i liked it better...can probably do without but it still finds use occaisionally.
- Chap stick
- Gerber Multitool
- Headlamp for night flights
- Portable battery pack with charging chord for my phone/ipad.
- ID lanyard for my charity flying (no where else better to keep)
- Barf bag (trust me...watch a student trying to puke out a window in flight will make you wish you had them. I just tactically aquire them from any air lines i happen to ride on from time to time).
- Pens (most work, but have that little clip broken off....damn my clumsy arms).
- Lighter
- Flying specefic sunglasses/case...Serengeti baby!!! Hell of a good investment.
Seems like alot in compared with what most have listed, but I guess i cant shake the "better to have it and not need it, than need it and not have it" mantra. Becides when your used to hauling around more, a 12lb backpack seems like a breeze.
