What brand/type of GPU do you use?

Right now since we are just starting up as a company we haven't yet been able to purchase a fully mobile GPU and i was wondering what types would you recommend and why? I need to convince my boss that while an electrical GPU does have a few advantages, we need to get a fully mobile GPU like the diesel one i had with my old company.

Thanks in advance

Anything diesel.

We have two gasoline GPUs that have like a 300 hp V6 Ford engine in them. They're always broken. I've never once had any problems with the diesel GPUs that we've borrowed when the gassers broke. Pretty sure the diesels were all Hobart.

Don't have a clue what type the FBO had where I worked. But, I can tell you, it ran off of 100LL, was really old, and was a pain to have to deal with. Get something that is simple to operate, and everyone will be happy.

Hobart is the standard out here for both the Airlines and GA. I think all the airlines out here uses Hobart except American. I dont know what theirs is since it looks like something from the 1940's.

Hobarts mounted on the back of trucks. Our older one only has the oval two pin connector on it, but the newer one has the 'brick' type, in addition to the smaller oval connector, that you plug into the BBJs. Diesel-powered. Just push the button to start up and flip a switch to close the circuit. Nice and easy.

My company uses old (built in 1960 I believe) GPU's with a Chrysler Hemi! They are amazing machines! Gas GPU's that always start no matter how cold it gets (the lack of compression probably helps... 50 year old engines and all). They have a big ol' V8 that suck down the gas and run a straight pipe that can, if it backfires, shoot massive flames into the air and may require stomping out a small grass fire. The perks: they aren't worth anything and you can either buy them dirt cheap or get them free from FBO's that got rid of them by parking them on the back 40, they always start and work great starting any airplane, they look cool, and if you know what a spark plug looks like you probably have the knowledge to keep them running for another 50 years.

We have an old hobart that is not well cared for and is hard to start. We use a Davco one the most. Also have a LEKTRO but it doesn't start planes very well and you cannot use it on planes that want sit with equipment on.
