What are you gonna do when your airline Tango Uniforms?

I'm suprised the idea hasn't been mentioned yet, but if I ever have to leave aviation, I would love to become a teacher. Weekends, Holidays and Summers off? How can you beat that? In fact, I might even like to flight instruct a little on the side as well. I'd say there is a very good possibility I end up changing careers around 35-40 for the teaching route.

My secret hope is to get marooned on a deserted island with the Swedish Bikini Team.........or at least Ginger and Mary Ann in their younger days.

[I can't believe nobody hit that.]

Well, you couldn't see the overt "overtones" of the show? No one hit it because, well Thurston didn't have viagra and the other male characters, well, it didn't 'interest' them! ;) THINK ABOUT IT!

Or maybe become an airline CEO. Who knows. ;)

That would be a nice gig. If you screw up, no worries. You still walk with tens of millions.

The people who suffer as a result of your poor performance lose their jobs and have to scrimp.

You? Go on, live it up! You screwed up, the airline goes under, and now, you don't even have to fly them anymore because you got fired and you can charter your own jet with the tens of millions you got!

1. Find another flying gig. Job closings and being furloughed are apart of this business. The best thing to do is to keep the resume fresh, the logbook updated, and looking for decent gigs. My CFI certificates are still good if the stuff hits the fan. In these days you could easily pull 40,000 to 50,000 bucks at the right places to at least get you by.

2. Middle School & High School band Director. I would side gig as a stage musician working in studios. I'd have to go back to school for 1.5 to 2 years to get this one done.

3. Owner and CEO of my own small business. (I haven't figured out in what yet. My dad always wanted to start a lawn service business.)

4. Marry rich and be a stay at home husband.:)

---------------------------------------------------

Next week I start a course to get my USCG Master Ship Captain license.

Doing this for fun, but I suppose it could also be the a step towards a plan B. I like playing with boats as much as I do planes.

Yaaaaaaaarrrrrrrrrgggggggghhhhhh, matey!
Awesome!!! I know a guy that quit his job on the ferries up here, and now is a captain on a ship based in Singapore shipping race cars around the world:bandit:

I am considering joining the Military Sealift Command.:)

Voted "yes" to the TA or voted "no" to the TA? :)

Personally, I have yet to find a person that'll man up to it.

Hehe. Yes, I should have said "don't blame me, I voted NO!" Much like the pro-union or anti-union thing, though, you can always tell which ones are being honest if you ask the right questions.

Sad, but unfortunately true...In fact you could bankrupt your airline and make $$$... Look at Carl Icahn now...:(

Excuse me for interrupting, but what exactly do the letters "TU" stand for?

Tango Uniform is a radio friendly term referring, as Doug said, to 'belly up'.

But in this case, it's a different part of the anatomy.

... which is more fun than 'belly'.

Yay!

That's an interesting perspective on the situation. Thanks for the positive vote from you. Yes, I did my part, and continue to do so by promoting the merits of ALPA representation to everyone around me.
Question: how would you explain to all the bitter XJT'ers it's not my fault when I launch w/ 74 people at less than 50 seat rates while their flying is being reduced? It makes me furious to think I would be contributing negatively to the industry.
We know it's not your fault. Actually, many of the folks I fly with usually lament the fact that it's a shame we make more than the guys carrying more people in the dash.

If there is any bitterness going on, it's because of the idea that the relationship with CO is deteriorating.

Personally, I'm gonna continue work on my plan for world domination...

What?

No way the Skipper was gay! Unless he belonged to the "Bears" club.

[The "Bears" were having a convention at our SFO long layover hotel the last time I had to be there. My window overlooked the pool but I was afraid to look outside.]

Gilligan and Professor? Well, they were young, single and neat..........not that there is anything wrong with that!

Really want something to think about--all those folks on the island and only Thurston and Lovey were gettin' any.... so there....
