What are "Rigs"?

I don't know in this post, but a lot of companies pay you by duty "rigs". A rig is some sort of combination of duty time and flight time.

Some companies pay you based on a rate for duty and another for flight, others pay you based on all your flight time plus a portion of your duty, just depends on the company.

Keep in mind most regionals don't have this. There are a few exceptions to that rule, though. I think Skywest has something and I know Air Wisconsin does. It's something we're trying to get on our next contract at PCL. As of right now, we can have a 12 hour duty day and only get paid for flight time. I've had a 12 hour days where I got paid for a whopping 4 hours. They like to toss in 4:59 minute sits in MSP and DTW sometimes, which we get paid nothing but per diem. We're trying to get something in that would reduce that as well as get us paid more than 50% for cancellations or 0% if we're removed from a flight and it still flies.

Now, that just sucks!

Here's a better explanation ...

Daily rigs are ...

Duty rigs are based on Time Away From Base (TAFB).

Is that clear as mud?

Not clear, and not correct.

Trip Rigs are based on TAFB.

Duty Rigs are based on time spent on Duty.

What are "Rigs"?

As in:

Again, Ford adds nothing useful to the discussion.

Pot. Kettle? ;)
