Watching this video again and thinking about airline ads, I realize every airline spends a hefty lump of change on marketing. The decision to do this and award random customers who are probably flying you because you were the cheapest way home in a way that they'll never forget compared to just embellishing your product speaks volumes about the company. Other airlines should take note.
No doubt, but the decision to spend the budget of X on xmas gifts for real people in this manner is still very worthy of being commended.I'd like to say it was done for the people, I am sure there was certainly a strong push for it internally realizing they could positively impact peoples lives, but the question most likely asked to prompt this was something along the lines of "What is our holiday campaign and how will we include social media, we have a budget of..."

I think its safe to say many of those on this site, having seen this, will now bring it up to their crew next time they cross paths with a Westjet plane at an airport.
