Today at work I got to help remove a wing from a 207. It was pretty cool to see a plane completely stripped down, and have a lot of parts removed.:rawk:

I don't know what that means but I wasany pilot who hasn't participated in maintenance of their aircraft....

Just wait till it goes back on and you have to help adjust the goofy-ass bushing in the rear spar attach point that controls whether or not the plane flies straight... Ask me how I know about that one...Today at work I got to help remove a wing from a 207. It was pretty cool to see a plane completely stripped down, and have a lot of parts removed.:rawk:

For sure. It is almost scary how few bolts holds it all together.Amazing how light they are and gives you a whole new respect for Va huh?
It is nice being on good terms with the people who use our hangar. I am just a line guy who happened to be in the right place at the right time.Cool that you got to see that. Doing maintenance work changed how I look at aircraft. Any chance to see the innards of an airplane I fly is a thing I make use of. Good on you.
Your mechanics probably like you a lot more, too.![]()
Hahaha. Hopefully I will be around when it goes back on.Just wait till it goes back on and you have to help adjust the goofy-ass bushing in the rear spar attach point that controls whether or not the plane flies straight... Ask me how I know about that one...

I don't know what that means but I waswhen I helped our mx change a main tire a few weeks ago.
The person that invented that procedure is absolutely insane.

You mean the one to adjust the angle of incidence? I had to help out w/ that before. It was annoying work.Just wait till it goes back on and you have to help adjust the goofy-ass bushing in the rear spar attach point that controls whether or not the plane flies straight... We didn't... we just knew that it rolled left, and the right wing was already as far down (low AOI) as it would go, so we dialed the left one as far up as it would go. Shockingly enough, it worked.I didn't get a chance to help them re-install the wings in my previous story. What did you use to measure whether or not they were straight?
Yeah, you can't reach the darn things at all. There were like 3 of us on it-one on the front side of the bushing, one on the rear side (to top it all, the bushing is actually 2 pieces, and you have to rotate them in synch or things get all goofy inside the bushing) and one holding the control cables out of the way. Plus to turn the things they had to rig up some contraptions with extensions, u-joints, and sockets to reach the darn thing. You mean the one to adjust the angle of incidence? were you guys still trying to get 875 to fly straight instead of snap-rolling on takeoff?
It was Illiamna. They are getting a new engine and wing for it I think. Was it Rediske's or Illiamna Air Taxi's? I think they both do stuff out of that building.
Hahaha yes. That's exactly it.Yeah, you can't reach the darn things at all. There were like 3 of us on it-one on the front side of the bushing, one on the rear side (to top it all, the bushing is actually 2 pieces, and you have to rotate them in synch or things get all goofy inside the bushing)
lol yeah the closest it got was one degree difference between the AOI in both wings which is a significant difference, nonetheless. That plane is a piece.were you guys still trying to get 875 to fly straight instead of snap-rolling on takeoff?
pretty sure a plane that has been destroyed in a tornado is NEVER going to fly straight again!! :rotfl:
