As I was looking through the Russian news web site for more info on the T-50, I found some of these weird looking aircraft built outside the United States

Are they really "aircraft" if they are unable to get out of ground effect??

The Russians spent a lot of time and money on WIGs (wings in ground effect) and you can find the Caspian Sea Monster using Google Earth. Note the second image, an 'ekronplan' is armed and was to be a 'littoral' weapon as well as stand off.

The 'Caspian Sea Monster' was reportedly destroyed in a crash.

gotta give em credit for developing these things, flying really fast under rader, able to move lots of cargo/troops. Check out the the Boeing Pelican, currently under some early stage of development.
