Weird Advice

I can't understand why anybody thinks it's worth the risk. Sure, maybe you get a year or two ahead of the game, and a lot of people apparently get away with it, but if the FAA ever does get wise to you, you're done. They'll take away every license and rating you ever thought about having, and you'll never, ever get them back.

There's a story I read somewhere about someone padding his log book with time in a plane that was located a couple of states away. He saw it on his field, found out that the pilot was from a long way away, never saw it again, and padded his time.

Then the day came when he took his ride. The examiner said, nice plane, that N12345. The guy said, yup, she flies nice. And the examiner said, yeah, I know, I own her.

You know, the folks at Enron, Global Crossing, WorldCom, and Tyco, among others, thought they could pad their books and get away with it.
Look at what happened.

Their companies went under and screwed a lot of "innocent bystanders" but the respective CEOs got away with millions and still haven't seen any jail time. Yeah ... they lost out big.

Bad idea. One of the guys at my work actually had his logbooks checked by the FAA during some investigations into his flight school which he used to CFI at. They wanted to compare the CFI times to the student times. Accusations were that the students were "padding" time to get through the program. What would have happened if he had 200 hrs or more of "fake" time?

Bad idea!

Well, they're looking at jail time. And I hope that when they do get convicted, that it's not for time at Club Fed, but at a federal pound me in the rear prison.

Ah but looking and getting are two completely different things. Unfortunately. And I agree, send 'em to a Federal "Bubba is my boyfriend" prison.
