Hello Doc,
I am a recent graduate of a reputable flight school and am now a commercial pilot/CFII. I have invested a lot of time and money into becoming a pilot for the airlines someday. Ever since I've been a teenage, I've been struggling with being overweight. Many diets and upsets later, I'm still well overweight. Although I had no problem getting a class 1 medical, I am worried that the airlines will look away at me because of my weight. I understand I could be an insurance risk being heavy but is there such a thing as weight requirements at the airlines? I have considered bariatric surgery as an alternative and have read what you have posted pertaining to the FAA's thoughts about it. I have always been healthy otherwise, I just need to change my lifestyle habits. Do they make a pill you can take overnight and wake up 100 pounds lighter?!
Thanks for your help!
