a friend of mine wants to fly for netjets and would like to know..

"1. Is netjets always 14 on 14 off or can you get 7 on 7 off?
2. When you're on for those 7 or 14 days are you away from home for all of those days, or do you end back at the base some of them?"

someone correct me if im wrong but i dont think exec jet has a 14 on/off schedule. You rarely if ever end up at home during your tour. If you do end up at home it will ALMOST never be overnight. My dad worked for em for a year and never ended up at home. You have no idea where you will be but you can count on bein gone. And it isnt a 7/7 schedule either cuz you work a 17 day schedule. I cant remember what the new schedule is with the new contract.

7 on / 7 off is the normal schedule. Newhires are initially assigned to an 18 day schedule with variable trip lengths which pays more than the 7/7 schedule. At the first opportunity a newhire can bid the 7/7.

2. When you're on for those 7 days are you away from home for all of those days, or do you end back at the base some of them?
Yes, when you are on duty you are gone. You will not see overnights at home.

NJACapt will have the definitive answer, but I'm pretty sure that they use a 7 on / 7 off schedule. (The BBJ side of the business may run a different schedule, but a new hire will not get hired over there). Gone for seven days straight, no practical chance of getting an overnight at home.

The previous contract contained a 7/7 schedule and a 17 day schedule. The current contract has 7/7 and an 18 day schedule. 7/7 was/is exactly that, 7 days on with 7 days off.

No doubt in the 750 fleet but I've been talking to the Ultra guys coming thru recurrent - some of them (especially the ones in CMH) have been sitting at home for at least a couple of days at the beginning of their tour. Nice to be in a dying fleet, ehh?!?!

I am in the 750 as well. I am on the 18 day reserve. The way I bid my days, on Monday I have 3 days of available work. The company has already told me they don't plan to use me on those days. But, they could change their mind.

I routinely get more days off than the 12-13 specified in the contract. So far, it's not so bad on this schedule.

Wow. As a 560 SIC on the west coast, I don't get home shows. Maybe I should change the HBA to CMH!! :D On the other hand, I haven't gone one 7 day tour in the last 5 months without the a/c breaking. Sitting in the hotel right now because of it!! The ol' U-boat is getting tired and ragged.

To those that we asking if you ever get to sleep in your own bed while in the middle of a tour, I have had 4 of those so far this year. Not a lot when compared to the total days we are on the road, but still happens (rarely).

One thing I've learned is that when it comes to you west coasters all bets are off!!!! Some of you guys I talk to are working like dogs and I've had some come thru recurrent that are literally flying a few legs a tour - seems like there is no rhyme or reason!

Another question for you Netjet guys....

What cities do you hire for these days? I know of DFW and LA... but are there any others?

The short answer is that there is a Letter of Agreement (LOA) that says that newhires can transfer among the five newhire domiciles (LAX, CMH, DAL, PBI, TEB) by:

1. Bidding into a open SIC (aircraft specific) spot for your desired domicile. Example: You are a newhire pilot on the G200 based in CMH. You really want to transfer to DAL, so you wait until a bid comes out for "G200 DAL SIC" and submit your bid. The down side: you are no longer eligible to bid for other SIC positions in most aircraft. So if you are an Ultra SIC and use this option, you cannot bid into the G200 later as an SIC. Also when you are awarded the spot, you are now "locked" into the domicile for 2 years. You get one "get out of jail free" card to waive the 2 year lock and change domiciles again.

2. Trade with another pilot in the same fleet and seat as yourself. Example: You are a newhire pilot on the G200 based in CMH. You really want to transfer to DAL so you find another pilot who is also a G200 SIC, but is based in DAL (and s/he wants to go to CMH). The two pilots essentialy swap domiciles, and everyone is happy. You can utilize this option unlimited times.

Of course this is all until you can hold "Home Basing" on the seniority list, or we make this issue go away on the next contract. My money is on the latter.:)
