weather depiction chart question

I have looked online and nowhere can I find what the dashed (--------------------) line represents on the weather depiction chart. I thought maybe freezing level at some pressure? Thanks

I think a trough is depicted by a dashed line...

Yes, that's a trough.

An area of cyclonic turning (in the northern hemisphere) without sufficient temperature advection to support a front, or the lack of a central Low pressure center associated with it, or any other factors that do support the depiction of a trough as opposed to a front.
