weather depiction chart question

I have looked online and nowhere can I find what the dashed (--------------------) line represents on the weather depiction chart. I thought maybe freezing level at some pressure? Thanks:confused:
 
Trough, as can be confirmed by looking at the isobars around it.
 
thank you, it does say TROF right beside it, i just wasn't sure the line was connected to it. appreciate the quick response
 
I actually kinda like them. I guess all this CFI-ing is making me nerdier....:panic:
 
Yes, that's a trough.

An area of cyclonic turning (in the northern hemisphere) without sufficient temperature advection to support a front, or the lack of a central Low pressure center associated with it, or any other factors that do support the depiction of a trough as opposed to a front. ;)
