So does anyone have a suggestion for a good bang for your buck pilot watch? It has to be subdued as I will wear it with a military uniform.

I have a torgeon T5 104.. can't really recommend it for the price. Impossible to read at night, hands only stay illuminated for moments. The crystal is all scratched up, and the face is scuffed. Granted, this is Alaska wear

The up side is that it keeps almost perfect time. I do reset it fairly often because I change timezones, but it's never off.

If it was half the price and indiglo, it'd be great. :p

I use the Nike GPS sport watch. Recharges via a built in usb, big numbers, easily adjustable and if you need it to light up, smack it. Plus I try to get out and run as much as feasible. I've had mine for three years, works like day 1, a steal for $120 IMO.

I have heard really good things about the Techne watches. Check them out, they look awesome and I hear they run really well. Probably something I will get in the future. They are also crowdfunding for a new watch and for $130 you could have a nice watch if you don't mind waiting a bit.

"$40 at AAFES/NEX" Timex digitals have worked for my entire military career. Stopwatch and time zone features worked well in my flying life too. Survived armored vehicles, sand, and cheap to replace the band or the whole thing if lost. Some are available in subdued colors. 17 years, two of the three I purchased still work. #3 was lost in Iraq. Other than an occasional battery swap, I have had no reason to change.

If you require more info from your wrist than this simple piece provides you're doing it wrong, or you just want people to comment about the heavy thing on your wrist. I have a "big" watch, I wear it every once in a while, because I want someone to comment about the heavy thing on my wrist. The cheap watch pictured above has been my everyday watch for the last 18 yrs.

Had mine for 7 year now, starting to look at little rough, but it has been the BEST watch Ive ever owned, (havent had a Breitling yet, Tag Heuer is next on my list.) Atomic Time keeping it perfect to the second, E6B bezel, multiple alarms ect ect ect. So many features it makes your head spin, Changing time Zones is a breeze. A watch made for the average aviator. If you shop around you can find it well below retail.
 
Casio G-Shock of your favorite flavor and style. I was issued the DW-5600 E as a USAF pilot training student, and later bought my own MTG 900.

That second watch has been through a dozen deployments, thousands of hours in the cockpit and all kinds of rough abuse and still updates itself automatically every morning and has a full battery thanks to the solar cells. Absolutely as nails, and practically indestructible. I highly recommend it.

My absolute favorite watch is my Omega X-33, which also has a couple thousand hours in the cockpit of fighters and trainers and has also been on several deployments.

Forgot to add, Skydrol seems to have very little effect on this watch, although the wristbands have been replaced numerous times.

I've had this same watch, 3 times. It's gone scuba diving, survived Afghanistan multiple times, and kept accuracy to +/- 5 seconds per month. I like that I have 3 time zones. I use the digital for current, click for zulu, and analog for home. It was one of my better purchases in my lifetime.
