Want to get my CFII, what should i study

Hey guys. It's been a while. I got my MEI and CFI back in the fall and started my first flying job as a CFI and I'm loving it. I just got enough hours (to meet the insurance requirements) to teach in our DA-42 Twinstar but my boss wants me to get my CFII first. I was just wondering what to study for this test. How hard is it? Is it as bad as my CFI initial? can't imagine it will be since it will be with a designated examiner and not with the FSDO. I just took an IPC last week and was fine with it. We do have a simulator that i can use for free that i can train on but i was just wondering if there is any literature I should be studying. Thanks

A good start would be the instrument flying handbook, pertinent FAR's and such.......

Yah i pulled out my Jep. instrument/commercail text book and started reading through it. God i forgot alot of stuff! It's been one year since i took my instrument rating ride. I guess i wanted to ask if there is any good stuff on how to teach instruments that i should be reading?

thanks

All of the AC's handbooks ect are in the PTS. That will be a good start. I had a copy of the Sportys ground school from when I did my inst, watched that too. I did my I and II last year. The II was no give away, but it was much more realaxed than the initial. 2.5 hr oral and 1.4 flight.

Yah i know it won't be a give away. I just want to be prepared. I'll have to download the PTS for the CFII. I guess i've never looked at it before. That would be a great place to start. Thanks for the advice. I also picked up the Instrument oral exam guide. It asks some good questions.

The easiest checkride i ever took was my multi engine commercial. I already had multi private and multi engine instrument rating, both done by the same examiner only two and four months prior. Also i did it in a DA-42 Twinstar which is just about the easiest twin to learn on. I wish i could find a conventional twin to build some time on. My MEI is kind of limited to the Twinstar as of now.

Your getting there! I seen your boss the other day when he stopped in Cody for the while in his Columbia, I wanted to race him in my Cirrus but thought I better not because he might beat me hehe

Yah the 400 Corvalis (or Cialis as we like to call it) is a slick plane. Ben just got back for Independence and now is a certified Cessna factory instructor. I might head down there when i get a few more hours. You need 1000TT to instruct in it. I think one can get behind that plane really easily if they are not trained properly. I also don't have my high performance endorsement. Diamond better get their DA-50 out soon. I saw that one at Oshkosh and it was really nice.
