Hmmm. Coincidence? How long before the conspiracy theories kick in....
Is it even a "conspiracy" at this point?
The only question is if Putin will bother making up a BS story to deny it.

I know nothing about these things, but it seems like he wouldn’t bother at this point. Is it even a "conspiracy" at this point?

Another victim of the Pitler regime.
This was no accident.
Putin could have shot down the aircraft another day over water. No burning wreckage, no witnesses. The only question is if Putin will bother making up a BS story to deny it.
I don’t know if you’ve noticed but Putin has all the subtlety of a bowling ball to the facePutin could have shot down the aircraft another day over water. No burning wreckage, no witnesses.
He wanted the videos and for everyone to know he did it.
Um. He attempted a coup against Putin.
I feel bad for the crews and the other 6 people in the plane, but this guy must have known what was in store for him.
Did he not see Operation Valkyrie?
So, from a lay person to the pros: Do you "fight" all the way down, knowing the inevitable but trying and hoping/praying , or do you just give up?
I'm sure he came to terms with the fact that he was a walking dead man. Probably the minute their mutiny ended. But it does suck that innocent lives had to be part of this.
The Usual Suspects are lining up with the usual "Wheels Within Wheels, Eleventywun" nonsense. Occam's Razor suggests that the Kremlin waited until they had all of the loose ends firmly in hand, then did what everyone naturally (and correctly) assumed they were going to do in the first place.

Austral Líneas Aéreas DC-9 over Uruguay in 1997, while cruising they had an unaknowledged pitot heat malfunction and started to lose IAS (in Argentina there was no requirement for a probe heat malfunction warning light at that time, so there wasn't one besides an ammeter instrument).Assuming the pilots never saw the missile streak, they wouldn't know what happened other than a loud bang. Every instance of rapid loss of control that I can think of, the crew fought all the way to the ground or the inflight breakup.
I won't post it, but you can search on youtube the GOL 737 midair where the left wing is sliced off (about 15 ft worth, aileron gone). The aircraft immediately banks into an uncontrollable dive spin, the FO makes exclamation and the CA several times states "calma, calma" and then states "calma" again. A true CA, he had no clue what had happened. But he knew they had to keep a cool, level head, and work the problem out. They were doomed. IIRC, the gear was found in the landing gear down position meaning they threw that out to help slow them down.
Another sad one is the Alaska MD80. Even in their final uncontrollable dive, they never once stopped. The CA called to the FO to push the blue side up. He asked to push the left rudder twice. The FO said he can't reach, so the CA said ok push the right rudder, right rudder. Those guys flew the airplane the best they could in that dive to the ocean, never once quitting.
Damn that swiss cheese is strong todayI was reading an AP article and they interviewed an ex NTSB investigator (who ironically was a professor for one of my brother’s classes at ERAU back in the day). The dude was trying to talk about accident “chains” and the investigation process.
Like, come on man. This thing was clearly shot down via Putler’s command. The only investigation into this will be confirmation that all targets were terminated.
The Russians aren't afraid of shooting those down either."Bro, he pays me three times what I'd get at an airline."
Glad you aren't over there anymore either bud.I’m waiting to hear the crew names. So glad I’m not over there any more.
