Vision for pilots

Before I started flying, I had the Lasik surgery. Now I see 20/20! The surgery is miraculous! I would recommend it to anyone who is tired of wearing their glasses or contac lenses. (I have a first class medical with no restrictions)

The night vision problem occurs because in the dark, your pupils enlarge and may extend past the corrected area. This causes "halos" to appear around lighted objects. People with pupils that are fairly large all the time are more susceptible to the "halo" problem and make poor candidates for lasik.

I think that the question is what the FAA thinks about your vision. At my company, as long as you had a first class medical, there were no other questions.

Well...I had lasik and after the second night the halo's were gone forever. I'm a night freight pilot and I think lasik is the coolest thing since microwave ovens.....
