Virgin Alaskan Airways pilot hiring

Alaska window open June 9th-16th only. Bachelor degree required. ATP and 3,000 hrs total required, or for the high performance military pilots 1200 total required. AS bases are ANC/SEA/PDX/LAX. Virgin window opens/closes frequently and it's open as of right now. ATP and 2,500 hrs required. Technically no hard requirement for a college degree but having it helps. VX bases are SFO/LAX/NYC.

While nothing is known about seniority integration it's a fair bet that anyone hired after April 4th this year on either side will go in seniority DOH order. So if you are interested in one and not so much the other, apply to both anyway.

Any tips for getting on with Virgin? I've applied a few times, updated my app and met with a recruiter at a job fair this year (and had a really good conversation), still crickets.

Did you take the online assessment and when was that? Usually if you do well and pass that the next step is a questionnaire form that is emailed. But there's no timeline on it if you pass the test. Could be as short as a couple days to several months. Sadly if you fail it, I don't think they notify you so it just seems like one has applied and is in the abyss.

I felt I bombed it too. No TBNT e-mail or any sort of response after I took the assessment which was a huge letdown.

It wasn't until I spoke with recruiters at WAI that I received the questionnaire. So if you haven't heard anything theres still a chance you did fine on the assessment.

Talk to them face to face at a career fair. This helped for me. Honestly I feel like Virgin is really all about personality and how they think you will fit in. You don't have to be the most funny or clever guy in the room, but they sure love a sense of humor. Bonus points if you can make the recruiter laugh and giggle. No seriously. Oh and don't wear a tie when you talk to them; it makes them feel uneasy seeing applicants wearing ties. I had the ball rolling with VX but got an offer I couldn't refuse elsewhere.

I wouldn't be too concerned with the technical portion of the assessment, only the personality portion. One of two things had happened when I got the call for interview, either the rumors were true and they no longer looked at the technical results as a way of passing on a candidate, or an idiot like me made it through that test.

I personally believe the rumors and they no longer use the technical portion.

The key to knowing you've made it past the assessment is when you get the chief pilot questionnaire.

And follow all the rules @cmhumphr posted about the actual interview. VX HQ is probably the only place Ill ever feel comfortable playing ping pong during the interview day while hanging out in the employee cafeteria area.

Sadly I didn't get the job, but the guy I played ping pong against did.

Nobody wants former colgan pilots

Job fair job fair job fair. I applied and reapplied to vx through 3 or 4 open windows, took the assessment and never heard a peep. Figured I bombed it. Job faired them once and received a questionnaire and interview offer 3 months later. Unfortunately/Fortunately I was driving to my class date at a different carrier when the phone rang and could not reconcile an interview date with indoc/longterm at my current gig. Went with the bird in the hand...I'm grateful for both opportunities, hard to say if I stuck with the right choice...Le sigh.

tl;dr Go to a job fair.
