I think he is a well known troll, so I wouldn't sweat it.

Integrity goes a long way in most cases. Thankfully, it worked here.
So glad it worked out. Based on your original post I had know idea how certain it was. BTW, integrity does not = self incrimination. I remember in AOCS we had the honor code, and I had a class officer that wanted to talk about something that he thought could lead to a denial. He said "I am not going to test your honor", then said what he wanted to say-classy.

So, things went well. He was a nice guy, and I think I'll chalk this one up to a lesson learned. Oh, and he was glad that I had the balls to call him up myself, and talk to him about it. Mabey he's one of those few rangers that actually has respect for those who respect him.

So what about this part then? :)

I didn't want to say that first, but I fully agree. He is trying to excercise muscle that was never granted to him. I have never meat a park ranger that was worth a damn. Mostly all of them have Napolean complex.

I wonder what the Park Ranger forum side of this story looked like

Yeah I used my new 15 megapixel digital on autofocus and could see the drunk ass pilot dip below 200 feet scaring the Otters so bad they won't mate this year. I caught the tail number and wonder what you other Law Dogs would do in my shoes,...

Glad it worked out for you.

It really sounds like he is out on a crusade with the "no-fly zone" thing while he is going to war in the wrong direction.

Great news! I thought being honest would work out all along. I agree with whoever said this info. should be more readily available to pilots.

Glad it worked out for you... but NEVER, NEVER talk to the cops/FAA beyond the documents you're legally required to show them. Just look at what got the NWA crew in way more trouble than they otherwise would have been. The best policy is to always keep your mouth shut and don't give anyone the rope to hang you with.

"I've been advised by my lawyer not to speak to you without him/her present"

I've always been the first to recognize when I mess up. If you realize you've made a mistake and are willing to learn then most likely just going to get a talking too and that's it.

That being said, I've never been 'busted' for doing something really malicious!

Glad it all worked out in the end and thanks for sharing, I think most all of us have learned something!

Glad to hear the phone call went well. One thing to think about though if you watched the video posted earlier. It was made pretty clear that LEOs will do anything including lying to get you to incriminate yourself. After a detective convinces a felon to write an apology letter to the victims he doesn't say, "aha gotcha". I'm sure he says something similar to what the ranger said to you. Thank you for coming forward and talking to me. You don't find out you incriminated yourself until you're served your charges and informed of your court date. Ofcourse I hope this doesn't happen for your sake, but I certainly wouldn't have talked to him.

As the just in case, the office girls have been told not to release any information without the proper paper work. So if it's comming, I know about it. And, if I get in trouble, I deserve it (ignorance isn't bliss, although it should be in some cases).

I am happy it worked out for you but I still think it was foolish to confess. A+ on the moral standing though. On the lame scale your crime gets a 10.
