VFR Charts Required

if he knew and planned accordingly with a current chart i do. even though it is not a regulation common sense would and should make one review a flight before they take off.

So you think we should have to (read: be legally required to) take our sectional and A/FD and go through and double check all of the updates every time a new A/FD comes out?

I'd never fly VFR again....ever...anywhere. Nor would most other pilots. Legally.

you do it when you fly ifr. if you want to cut corners be my guest. after awhile the reeper will catch up with you.

When I fly IFR, I put the CD in, click 2-3 buttons and let the charts update themselves.

...and it's cutting corners now to *not* comply with a regulation that doesn't exist?

If true, I'm not so sure about the legally part. I understand that slightly less than half of the pilot population is instrument rated and only a small percentage of instrument pilots maintain currency. So if, most pilots would never fly VFR...
