VF Article: My First Gulfstream

I should write an article about my third business jet purchase after I buy the first two.

Anybody know which banana-yellow GV is the subject of the article? Certainly there has to be an N-number chaser out there who knows....

A quarter of a million for pilots including benefits is horrible, if I read that right. Even if it's just 2 pilots on a Gulfstream, it's bad. If they have any type of rotation, it's horrible.

I don't think you read that right.

He states 1.2 - 1.5 mil a year just in operating cost. Where did you read a quarter?

Pretty interesting to read from that perspective. Mentions nothing about what we actually do.

You are correct. I read it wrong, thankfully. It states a more reasonable half million with other costs included. Also, good point @Boris Badenov .

Houses just sit there; a jet needs a crew—chief pilot, co-pilot, and mechanic—and they need benefits and 401(k) plans. Hangars and insurance take their toll. Before you know it, you’re spending nearly half a million dollars a year without leaving the ground.

I'm a biz av nerd so I'll bite on this.

Only 2 G-III transactions between beginning of '96 and end of '98 - based on the article I'm pretty sure this is #306. Incredible to see where values have gone in the last 20 years, for the same budget this guy could be into a 450 or a V now.

*Edit* for stupidity - had bad info from Jetnet, more like 73 traded in that time period. A little tougher to narrow it down...
