Vancouver, B.C. Float Planes

This may be common for a lot of you to see. For me, being from Colorado I don't see too many float planes. It's bad ass seeing these things doing their thing.

Sorry, I am no photographer:

Only shot I could get of the Twin Otters:

I flew that very airline 2 years ago from Vancouver to Victoria. It was awesome because if you're the first pax on, you get the option of taking the co-pilot seat, leading to this photo ...

I love doing that back home. Getting to sit in the right seat of a 208 is pretty fun.:)

Too bad I am not at home. I spent all of January in Vancouver and have many pictures of the floats.

Nice!

Took a turbine otter from Victoria, BC to Seattle after ferrying a 182 up there. Grabbed the pilot, explained what was what and said "hey man, mind if I sit up front?"

Great guy and it was impressive watching how good he was with the thing. I envy his job. It is beautiful up there and what a cool airplane.

But man, it was all normal airplane stuff right up until we untied and started taxiing out into the harbor then I'm like "whoa this ain't right. We're, um, floating." :)

I mean, I knew it was a seaplane but my brain had a hard time connecting the whole "ok, it's just another cockpit" thing with the "wtf, this feels just like a boat. We're floating!" for a while.

When I was up in Vancouver a year and a half ago, I would walk down there from the Westin Bayshore everyday. It was a nice walk past the harbor to get down there and watch the operations for a little bit.

Nice!

I remember being up there back in 2005 for a big meeting and a couple of us snuck out to take one of the tours... Got to sit up front in the Beaver. :nana2: Good times. Need to find the pics now.

Don't apologize,

Taking pictures of those planes is like taking a picture of a beautiful blond, you can't take a bad one.
