Vacuum failure

I was wondering what exactly is happening when you look at the vacuum gauge, see that the vacuum pump does not read properly, and the attitude indicator and heading indicator are starting to fail? Are these instruments getting too much vacuum pressure or is it always a lack of vacuum pressure that causes the instruments to fail??? What will happen if the vacuum gauge reads to high? Could that happen and would it cause a problem????????

To answer part of your question, if you have a high reading on your suction gauge you could either have a clogged filter or the bleed valve may need to be adjusted. A clogged filter can lead to a failure because the pump will have to work too hard in order to maintain sufficient vacuum.

lets not forget, the vaccum gage may also not be accurate.

Too much Vac is bad, (not as bad as no vac tho) it will kill your gyros faster.
