UVU, ERAU or....?

Looking to return to school for a bachelors degree. Generally impressed with ERAU and UVU, I'm leaning towards ERAU just because they have a Bachelors in Transportation that seems more interesting and a bit more usable should I find myself not being able to fly anymore. Also interesting is the Aviation Security degree.

UVU also in the running, but looks much more costly than ERAU (online only).

Anyone else have any suggestions on schools? Looking at online degree only. Have an ATP and CFI and CFII, looking for some place that will possibly give me some credit for that too.

Any experience, especially online, is appreciated. Thanks.
 
I looked at both (and was briefly enrolled) but decided to go to a non-aviation college that offered lots of other degrees. Don't put all your eggs in the aviation basket. The airlines don't give a damn if your degree is in aviation, but if you have to leave aviation, then other employers certainly do care if you have education in the field in which you'll be working. Someone with a degree in aviation security is going to have trouble getting an accounting job, for example. I see basically no benefit in an aviation degree, besides avoiding a few electives by getting credit for your ratings.

Thanks. I've looked at some other non aviation schools too. I was trying to see what the consensus was on either of these programs and suggestions for others. The Transportation degree at ERAU isn't as focused on aviation but on all modes of transportation, so it could be more beneficial somewhere outside aviation.

Trying to get something for my experience in aviation too, since money and fame aren't working out ;)
 
My take is that you'll spend just as much even with credits given for your certs at UVU and ERAU as you would spend at a non-aviation college starting from scratch. So to each their own but I'd suggest getting your degree in a concentration you like and can use outside of aviation.
 
I am currently working on my degree with Embry Riddle Worldwide, I transferred in about 5 gen ed classes from a community college and got credit for my CFI, MEI, and A&P certificate. All in all they gave me about 70 credits. Best thing is to apply and they'll tell you which degree options your flight ratings will transfer into the most. I'm just in the Professional aeronautics program with a minor in management. Let me know if you want any specifics on how the flight ratings transfered.
 
I'll be done with my degree at UVU in the next six months to a year. It's a perfect program if you are working full time.
