Yea I know, I wonder what happens when this happens, this could turn into a very serious problem pretty fast if there is a lunatic on the other side of the radio.
I've always wondered about that! What the heck would happen if some stupid kid came with a transceiver to a really busy airport and started to clog up all the important frequencies. It seems like this could be a serious problem.
I bet that the fine would be up there, just like the laser being pointed at planes. I know that is a very hefty fine. I have no idea on the radio though. Maybe it is as easy as changing frequencies. Who knows.
I think it's a matter of plugging in an MP3 player into an aux jack to get it to come across the intercom and accidentally transmitting it over the frequency. I'm no radio guru, but I don't think a guy with his handheld transciever on the ground would be able to transmit with such power as to be heard all over a high altitude frequency, aircraft and controller. Those sectors span hundreds of miles and the comm sites are few and far between.
