USAir retiring the 737-400 today

I can't say I'll miss riding in those things. They seemed to fly most of the CLT-Florida flights. Nothing like being in a middle seat in the back with a bunch of PBI residents.

Now don't nobody talk bad about Fifi the "bubba jet". You ride the "bubba jet" to the "Hub-o-bubba" and on to the rest of the US. I flew these before the Airbus and we used to go PHL to SFO or LAX in the 300LR. Talk about a long ride in a 73.

If yo are on the ramp in DCA you may see the Alaska 73 taxi out. DCA to SEA. It's an 800 long range version, if there is such a thing. That's a real long ride in a 73.

I flew one of the last airplanes last week and I am sorry to see it go. AB school is just around the corner but possibly the 76. It depends on the next bid.

All you really need to know for the moment is that the universe is a lot more complicated than you might think, even if you start from a position of thinking it’s pretty damn complicated in the first place

Great username!

3 hours is a comfortable range in a 737.
4 hours and you're cursing Boeing.
5 hours, two lavatory breaks and aerobics behind the center console are required.
6 hours and you fantasize about a nice comfortable 9-5 cubicle job.

Most were immediately destroyed by the USAF recently, but not before a few got out surplus. Cool bird
For a long time this sat outside the Kulis ANG base. I love the paint job.

Anyone know what Alaska has planned for their 734 fleet? I know some of it depends on getting the Q up here in more numbers and I heard something recently about 700 freighters.

Since Bombardier announced they had two customers for the combi version of the Q400 (they only named one), and Horizon still has seven options for Q's, I'd be really surprised if Alaska isn't planning on having Horizon buy a couple of them to use in AK.
