USAir East latest bid

You have no idea! I met with our CP very recently for my Off Probation meeting and he said that he was pretty sure this bid was a new record...one year (or slightly less, in a couple of cases) to Captain.
You still had to meet with the CP? I thought the MOU said ur off probation at 400 hours now. Not that it makes a difference.

For me, the two coincided. Yeah, as far as I know, they want everyone to meet with the CP. No big deal.

I think this advancement will soon come to a halt. Once the west has bidding rights on the east, this picture will look completely different. Another reason I'm kicking myself for not bidding 767 but I couldn't take the risk of not having any schedule control and missing out on things with my family.

Couldn't agree more. I can't imagine being on endless reserve as a new hire! And isn't long call going away per the MOU?

Anyone know how long the seat lock is after your first year if you switch planes? 18 months? And I'm pretty sure if you can hold a captain seat then your seat lock is cancelled, correct?

I can barely figure out how to bid so advanced matters like this are way over my head. Thanks

I hear lcr is one of those things that is still up in the air. But I'm like the rest of you guys in that I want to get off reserve. Staying put where I am was the quickest way.

Wait..this is Airways you guys are talking about, right? Wasn't that the airline that you previously had such a senior pilot group you had to sneak up behind a duo of pilots and yell "BOO!!" in the hopes they would drop dead and you would move up a seniority number? Lots of retirements?

That or lots of guys running around screaming BOO at the top of their lungs.

Any other way around the online application lottery system to get a leg up? Went to a job fair last year and met with USAirways and talked to a check airman/pilot recruiter. But going to job fair doesn't help apparently, not even internal recs to get an interview.

I gave up trying to understand it. @amorris311 and I had a buddy interview who's mom worked at AA, and got turned down. Stand up guy who knows his stuff too. Getting the interview is beyond me. Even people who work here don't really understand it.

My interview was quite frankly one of the worst I have ever done, ever. I cannot fathom how they decide to hire. I did not do any official prep, I didn't ask any questions like you are "supposed" to do, nor did I have a speech at the end thanking them profusely, and I didn't leave any thank you notes. I missed some very basic questions. I don't want to post publicly what was said in the interview room to me but it wasn't good. In fact, I honestly think they made a mistake...

So you're saying I've got a shot?

Glad it worked out for you, but weren't people on here pretty "firm" telling you to do prep? It is water under the bridge for you, but for the next guy...

I know (personally, not "face book" friends, guys I can pick up the phone and call) quite a few guys hired there in the past year (+/-) and not one did the official prep. For some airlines yes it might be important (cough Delta/United).
