US Aviation in Denton TX, hiring 19 new flight instructors

Re: US Aviation in Denton TX, hiring 19 new flight instructo

I had an interview there today and it seemed like a nice place to work. It looked like a pretty busy place with a lot of students that is a plus. The guy who did the interview seemed like a fair guy and was pretty straight forward with me about how the flight school operates and how many hours I could bill per month. Is there anyone on this forum who currently works here and has a friend who would rent me a room? Please PM me.

How good can a company be that is run by the idiots that ran Air Safety in Glendale AZ? Enough said

I thought the third incarnation of Air Safety went under. The first was in Vero Beach circa 2000. One day..offices were empty, doors were padlocked and planes were gone.

Re: US Aviation in Denton TX, hiring 19 new flight instructo

"I actually heard, for the first and only time in my life a controller flip out over the radios while in the DTO pattern one day. In the dead heat of July, while it's a nice 110 degrees outside...it seemed as if every Chinese and Indian student was out solo in the pattern. Most of them had less than stellar English and were missing calls, understanding instructions incorrectly, and making their own radio calls very hard to understand. Finally the guy in the tower screamed, " There are too many people in the pattern who DON'T SPEAK ENGLISH!" He proceeded to reject anymore touch & go operations (there were 4 more USFA aircraft in the runup) made all inbound aircraft hold their posistions where ever they were, and landed 6 aircraft he deemed as "non-English profecient"."

LOL, to be perfectly honest, I wish more controllers and instructors would ground flights until their students learn to properly communicate and ENUNCIATE. That seems like a ridiculous amount of people in the pattern to have to deal with radio problems.

Having worked at a busy 141 school with tons of foreign students, none of the issues brought up seem to be a surprise. Bad mx, management always looking to cut costs and push students through. students always having the priority over the CFI's, CFI's overworked, etc... It's part of the risk of working for the bigger schools and the payoff is the ability to move ahead in a year or two, instead of 3 or 4 at a smaller FBO. Is it worth the risk? That is only up to the applicant, but none of these schools will change how they operate, since it's a money-making machine. Just be careful.

They are still seeking instructors. Apply if are interested...

Re: US Aviation in Denton TX, hiring 19 new flight instructo

I have to say it

This place sound like the Sierra Academy of the central US.

Go ahead and apply, some of you need to learn/experience it for yourself.

Those of you offering more info on hiring, are they giving out bonuses for referring a CFI?

By the way, the worst time for an engine to quit at idle, in the flare!

Re: US Aviation in Denton TX, hiring 19 new flight instructo

These guys keep recycling the ads. Are they really hiring lots of CFIs or just picking up a few?

Re: US Aviation in Denton TX, hiring 19 new flight instructo

Still hiring. They are having problems finding competent applicants and loosing senior instructors fast.
Pm me for details...

Re: US Aviation in Denton TX, hiring 19 new flight instructo

How long does an instructor usually instruct before they get to use an MEI?
Just wondering if it is just the very senior instructors that do the multi flying.

Re: US Aviation in Denton TX, hiring 19 new flight instructo

I was thinking of doing a BFR here, but now I'm a little hesitant. Born and raised in Texas, so I speak perfect English. Any CFI's willing to discount?! haha

Hard to say really. I wanna say that our most junior MEI started in November-ish? However with the rate of guys moving on combined with lowered minimums, I forsee a lot of movement and a lot of people sticking it out for one student to complete their 50 hours multi then moving on. Right now every instructor has too many students and its only gonna get worse at the rate they are hiring new ones. They want 3 students per instructor and I personally have 6. So there's a lot of flying to be done for sure.
