Philadelphia police say the "upskirting" incident happened at about 7:15 p.m. Thursday at a gift shop at Philadelphia International Airport.
The alleged 15-year-old victim and her mother were in a gift shop during a layover in Philadelphia when a witness reported seeing a man take a cell phone picture up the girl's skirt.
Authorities say the eyewitness flagged down an officer who stopped and questioned the man.
During the investigation, the officer learned the "upskirting" suspect was a 55-year-old US Airways pilot. The pilot was taken to Philadelphia Police Special Victim's Unit where he was further questioned and his phone was confiscated. The pilot, who was also on a layover, was eventually allowed to continue on to his final destination of Connecticut.
Police say charges are pending and investigators are obtaining a search warrant to scan the phone's photo gallery.
In the meantime, US Airways released the following statement:
"US Airways has suspended a pilot that was detained at Philadelphia International Airport pending the outcome of an investigation."
