US Air......hanging by a thread

I was glad to see the pilots reject that, actually. If management wants to give away the store, they shouldn't do it at the pilots' expense. Plus, I think the pilots have already given far enough. What's to say management won't ask for more cuts next week? The line has to be drawn somewhere.

Fully agree. You (management) don't present one contract proposal one week, then come back with a worse proposal the next week after the first one is rejected and expect to be looked at as truly wanting to save the company. The pilots it seems have said enough is enough.

I'm sorry, was there a discussion going on in this thread? I was, ummm, distracted /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

At this point there is no more "management" really. It's the Alabama Pension fund playing a last game of chicken before they decide whether or not to liquidate it. The pilots know this is the last round.

From a Daily Labor Law Reporter:

[/ QUOTE ]AIRLINES: Talks between US Airways and the union
representing its pilots over a company proposal for $295
million in annual concessions reach an uncertain stage when
the union's leadership decided not to put the company's
latest offer to a vote by rank-and-file pilots. . . .

Today is the 10 year anniversary of flight 427. Sad day /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/frown.gif here in pittsburgh. People say that crash started the downfall that the airline is trying to recover from.

It was a bad deal. But the "downfall" that everyone tries to find for all the problems was deregulation followed by completely negligent oversight by management. Despite flying in the highest yield environment in the country, USAir still let their costs and debt get so far out of control they were doomed.
