UPS MD-11 crash at SDF

No. But we know how these fuel switches work, right?
Yes, they do, and they worked as designed in this case as well. It's just this time a suicidal pilot decided to take not only himself but a plane load full of innocent people with him to his final destination. I suppose that could happen anywhere, but it didn't. I don't know why and neither do you. Is saving face ingrained into your mindset from birth?

Cool story. He’s wondering because it directly affects his career.
I understand that and my post wasn't meant to be sarcastic or mean spirited. From what I've gathered (I'm not an NTSB investigator) when the #1 engine departed its debris may have caused at least a partial failure of the #2 engine as it travelled from left to right over the fuselage. This happened at the absolute worst time, full of cargo and full of fuel, during rotation. Obviously the final report hasn't been published, at this point because they weren't able to climb out on two engines it seems plausible the #2 engine was compromised.

I imagine the full story of how things got to the point of failure will be clearer. It’s obvious the engine and pylon came off the airplane but the why is in there somewhere. Hopefully we’ll take heed to whatever recommendations the NTSB makes after this is all said and done.

Similar to ValuJet 592, we'll get a little more of the why and who involved.

I gotchya.

"events leading up to"

Fair enough... Thanks!

Is being misinformed ingrained into your mindset at birth?
Yes, but it didn't stick. My parents were a mix of a beatnik photography student and a surfer/hippy chick. I went to anti-nuke rallies with my mom when those events actually took place, we're talking the mid '70s. My dad worked for Rolling Stone magazine at one point and the cast of characters that I witnessed in my early life probably strengthened my reticence to all of their nonsense as a young person. But I'm old and I remember, so yes I was also subject to gibberish from the time I was born. I have stories about my grandparents, they were not fans of my parents life choices. You're not a conservative, a liberal or a progressive. You'll abandon whatever ideal you've been supporting if it touches your dirty spot, and that's Islam. So the question is who believed all of the bull excrement their parents forced on them? Not me.
