I'd go even further and maybe even sanitize any social media you may have out there.

Smells of insecurity and someone with severe power/control related issues. He needed to intimidate you, and let you know he had the power and was in control. He was marking his territory.

Oddly, you can also be charged with a crime without having ever been arrested. I've never heard of an employer asking about that though. Which is strange, because they probably care about the charge more than the arrest.
 
Or just don't social media your life away. I can understand kids and teens, but you have fully grown adults who are literally facebooking or twittering their life every single day. It's one of the reasons I quit facebook, didn't log in for the requisite 2 weeks, and the account was permanently closed. That newsfeed crap got to be way to creepy and felt stalker-ish.
 
I got popped for having a beer in public on Fourth of July 8 years ago. No arrest, just a $25 ticket that is a lower infraction than a parking ticket where I live. Not even a court appearance.

This hasn't come up on any background checks I've seen on myself, yet I put 'yes' on the have you ever question, because a record does exist of the 'conviction' for the non-criminal infraction. The only catch is to ever find out about it, one would have to come to the local court to get a disposition on it.

I hate having to answer 'yes' to the dreaded question. Always leaves me wondering if that's the reason I'm not getting a call from the Majors. I know, the real reason is probably that I'm 1 in 10,000........
