Upgrade at the Majors

Thanks FO! BTW, Kristie and I ran into Mrs Kaney yesterday in ATL!

I didn't realize you guys went as far back as Scenic!

Aviation is a small world, people gotta realize that! :)

Jeff's doing a lot better, btw.

They met at Scenic I think. They ran into each other in a bar in DFW and in front of the STL terminal when they were at TWA too. Funny stories, I'll let Bill tell them sometime.

Her and Jeff are both totally cool people.

Glad to hear Jeff's doing better. Is he going to ever go back to work?

Long story short. Jeff and Nancy bought a hangar for the airplane, then Jeff got sick, starts wheeling and dealing with other jet owners at the airport and started a corporate operation... Turns out that he started getting contracts from Sunstrand (I think) doing testing of military equipment at high altitudes, so he handles the business aspect of it, his business partner does the flying and figure out where to spend all the loot.

Jeff won't get his medical back because the medication he's on isn't FAA approved so the airline gig is pretty much over. But Nancy says he's doing great!

Those two could do the stand up comedy circuit, I swear.

it was really amazing to see and hear what a small world aviation really is - esp when Nancy exclaims that Bill saved Jeff's life by talking about his "symptoms"... Once Jeff heard about that, he went back to the sleep doctor and from then on, all uphill. She says he misses flying, but not the industry... Nancy is uber cool in my book!! Doug and I now have South America on our travel list after talking to her about Machu Picchu :)

I'm trying to go back to Peru. Lived there for a long time in Arequipa, Tacna, Puno, Juliaca, cool place.

What part of Lima? Lima is a hole in my opinion minus a few parts like La Molina and Miraflores. There are a couple other parts but the majority of the city is crap.

I believe it was Miraflores, but it was a LOOOOOONG time ago -- 1983 (I'm very old).

I've been to Peru, but it was a bunch of years ago. Spent 3 weeks there.....about 1 of 'em in the Amazon basin. Flew into Iquitos and went up river from there to the middle-of-nowhere Amazon jungle. Was awesome! Swam in the delta where the Amazon river is formed by the Ucayali and Maranon rivers. Then caught pirahana, when we were done swimming, for lunch.....they taste great. Then, spent some time up in the mountains checking out the Incan ruins and things like that....(sidenote.....if you enjoy being a tourist, go to Machu Pichu......if you prefer the path less traveled, go to Kuelap) Not that you shouldn't also see Machu Pichu......just that there are a many great places most have never heard of to see as well. Went to Chachapoyas, Cajamarca, Tingo, Trujillo, and a bunch more. Then finished my travels in Lima. Man, I've never seen so much garbage on the beach, like I did in Lima. Lima is a dump!!! At least the part I went to.....don't remember exactly where that was though, sorry.

Anyway, I highly recommend a trip to Peru......it's well worth the travels!

miraflores is extremely beautiful! i was there this past january and you could not ask for a better section in lima. kristie since delta flies to equador i suggest you go to the galapagos islands and very special treat in my opinion. machu picchu is amazing the high altitude might get to you so take things a bit slower than normal for the first day or two. i suggest you take the train from cuzco so you can see all of the ruins as well as the beautiful countryside on your way to machu picchu. when i went to mp we stayed at the bottom there is a nice hotel at the top but it is small and you can seriously do mp in a good day. if you have any questions feel free to ask.
