On their website United has issued travel advisories and such for DCA from the 18th to the 20th. THey have already started canceling flights... does anyone know if they have already cancelled flights into Sunday the 20th?

:laff:

you can check status here for free

Yeah I've been checking there too, but the wx is still too up-in-the-air for them to make any reasonable predictions.

In someone's educated guess, say that United resumes their flights beginning Sunday morning... we are booked for Sunday at 1230 to ORD... what will happen with all of the people who had flight cnx today? Will they screw our flight? ANd with United canceling all of their RON's in DCA and IAD... how, in one's educated guess, will that affect our flight getting out of DCA on time on Sunday?

THe United 1-800 number isn't even working anymore... they go to connect you to a reservation agent and then it just drops the call!!!!!

Delta's cancelling a heeyooooj amount of flights in the area, if not all.

Nobody on this website is going to have any information about UAL's scheduling of flights. Pilots know when the info trickles down from 'the man'.

Normally you will still have a seat and the pax from the cancelled flight will have what's called revenue standby which is a very high priority standby. ie the pax from the cancelled flight do not bump you from your flight.

Course you'd have to check with the airline directly to be 100% sure :)

Almost all the SFO-IADs(and theres like 8 a day) canceled yesterday. Today, ALL of them are expected to cancel, I hear the same goes for sunday. I don't know about the other IAD flights, but hub to hub routes are the priority flights they try not to cancel, so if those are canceling...

Work will be easy today considering anybody who was in IAD won't be on any of my flights. I can only imagine what its like for those CS agents right now.

Sunday supposed to cancel too when the weather here is supposed to be nice????? What do you recommend one does to try and get rebooked on another carrier? The united website still isn't showing any information about our flight on Sun.

So DOug, as per my earlier question, what happens to the sunday passengers and their bookings when all of Saturday's flights are canceled?

I don't know man, I just drive the bus! :)

(and not even that well most of the time!)

Why my wife booked us on the WORST airline in the United States is beyond me... she had a standing order to NEVER book a United flight. I just spent 1.5 hours on the phone with a nice chap from India and he told me absolutely nothing that I couldn't discern from flightaware,ual.com,wunderground, etc.... took him 5 minutes to explain to me the weather situation!!!!! We are going to take the Metro to DCA tomorrow morning as early as possible, and if our flight ends up cancelled we are going to try and just get on another Star Alliance flight out of the terrible city!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Agitation in my voice? yes, very much so!

yep..my wife's flight was canceled (CAL ) and we thought possibly we could get her out of town on Monday...well we just found out it she will get out now at Wed. at the earliest due to all the cancelations this weekend. Crazy!

What city did she cancel out of? God I hate the north east!

Looking at flightaware no flights got in KDCA after 11:30am or so. In Dulles it looks like the only arrivals were the big international boys. As of 6pm both airports are closed for the day.

The word came down on the ATC side of things around noon that DCA and BWI closed until "sometime on the 20th" Never heard about IAD though.

A friend in the tower says they will probably open back up 6 or 7 am tomorrow. He's off today, so thats just a more or less uneducated guess.

Well i think I may actually have a chance at getting out of DCA in the morning... we aren't scheduled until 12:30... the 10:30 to ORD and the 12:30 to ORD are the two earliest that aren't cancelled... I believe the first three flights in the morning are cancelled because their RON aircraft couldn't get into DCA tonight. I've checked the schedules a dozen times and I thinks that be the case, and the wx is supposed to be decent here in DC tomorrow morning.

Now here is the question... what are the chances of UAL telling us "sorry, we need your seats for people who are stranded form yesterday."???? Surely they wouldn't do that, eh?
