United Pilot Diverts Flight Due to Movie Complaint ???

PC cattle wagon. Special privileges for special people. I grow tired of special people being maligned on an hourly basis. Your rights haven't been violated, just you're narcissism.

Can anybody just suck it up and make life happen, without crying FOUL on a constant basis?

Not only is the constitution gone but OUR constitution is gone.
 
Yup, land, kick their asses off the jet and continue on with the duty day.

Trust me, we really don't want to divert for any non-safety reason, but if we decide to, it means getting you off the jet is worth the Monday morning quarterbacking, paperwork and heightened level of scrutiny that will arise.

If they started tampering with equipment, she's hella lucky (screw you, that's right, I said "hella") that they weren't restrained with the "layover kit"
 
On the passengers defense however, why would an airline, in a family environment, be playing a PG-13 movie? Maybe PG tops. This was a poor choice on United's part IMO.

I'm not defending the passengers actions but still...
 
Because adults buy tickets.

If you look at rated G and rated PG movies, that circle is so small and, quite frankly, crappy that you might as well just play schlock like "Everyone Loves Raymond" reruns.

I can't see how a censored-to-hell PG-13 movie is so deleterious to show.

Those kids are going to go all "Rumspringer" when they're away from their parents.
 
Rumspringer is also an Amish punk hardcore band from the mean streets of Harrisburg, PA. Thats genius! ;)

It was a reply from a passenger on the airplane. See below

I was sitting on this flight about four rows back from the couple and child in question. Some things that are left out of this article about both parties include...
The parents spoke with the flight attendant. We couldn't hear what was being said in the beginning...just murmurs. It then got a bit heated and louder. The stewardess then shook her head no, said something a walked away. The mother then stood up and tried to push any screen within reach back into their closed positions. The stewardess then came back and told her they couldn't do that. They went back and forth for about 10 minutes. The lady asked for the head flight attendant...who came back for more "lively discussion." The husband got involved this time and we could hear both telling the attendants to turn the movie off (for everyone).
Thirty minutes later the captain came on and said the flight was being diverted to Chicago.
The plane landed and the family was asked to leave the plane. I felt terrible for one of the kids, who was nearly in tears and clearly didn't know what was happening nor want the attention. Before being escorted off, the lady apologized to everyone.
As an observer, parent, and passenger....
The family was clearly over the top in how they chose to deal with it. They sounded as if they are from Australia...and don't how they deal with violent movies on flights there. The movie wasn't for young kids, but the parents should have planned to entertain the kids with other things while the movie played, and then contact the airline afterwards.
The airline needs to get the flip screens out of there and move screens into seats across the board. The most troubling part was after the family was escorted off, the stewardess was asked by someone sitting next to me what transpired (we couldn't hear everything). She said that she'd been threatened by the mother. A teenager sitting next to the father turned around and said, "That's a lie." Wow, the airlines have alot of power...!
The airline swapped crews soon afterwards. Don't know why...but the stewardess was taking heat for how she handled it. Other passengers were angry that the parents got loud enough that it disrupted our flight and lives.
Still seems sureal...and think all parties went about it wrong.

Yup, I'm landing short, dropping their asses of and sending them a bill. If they're that anal, they should be flying private. If they can't afford that, suck it up and drive so you can control the whole experience.
