United flood gates opening...

I had a United checkairman in the jumpseat who is also involved in recruitment. He says all recalls are complete, and interviews will begin in August/September. He stressed that if your thinking about CAL start making phone calls today!

So who will be doing the hiring? United legacy guys or continental legacy? I know a few United legacy guys but I don't know if they would have much pull if the later will be doing the hiring.

I recently flew with a senior United Capt who said the same thing and predicted big hiring in less than 12 months.

How long do the UAL pilots who bypassed recall have before they have to go back or resign?

Wonder if they will be using CAL's old airline apps system.

It's funny, I know a UAL furlough and he hasn't gotten his letter to go back yet, as of last week. I know he's excited to go back.

Well that's weird because I have had two united furlough guys get a ride from me in the past week and they have not heard a word about recall. Now granted one of those guys said he wasn't going back but I find it funny that they're going to hire when they still haven't offered recall or preferential hiring to those on furlough.

Sometimes guys will blow a little sunshine when getting a free ride. I can't tell you how many mainline jumpseaters I have had in the past that would give me the "yeah, we should be hiring really soon. Get your application in." I remember thinking "Man, you're getting the ride. No need to try and pay it back with the notion I'll be out of this crap hole soon"

So true! Just tell me you don't know and that we are working on climbing back to pre 9/11 work rules and that will make me happy. Time is on my side and unfortunately these guys have nothing but a few years left.

I had the UAL plug in my jumpseat a few weeks ago and he already had a class date at CAL for Aug. Maybe they are talking about recall to UAL and not the offer to go back as a new hire at CAL.

Not agreeing or disagreeing with what the gentleman said, but one of my friends did get a recall letter (2007 hire).

Maybe those guys that haven't heard anything haven't been updating their contact info. Kinda crazy and stupid, but I've heard of it happening....
