Ok, you argue that if the aircraft was shot down there would be millions of pieces allover, and there was only a crater. Well from seeing various crash photos over the years, there is always various aircraft parts scattered allover the crash site, not just a crater on the ground. Where do you suggest the pieces have gone then? The FBI found an engine I believe but that was the only large part of the airplane they found. The black box was found like 20 feet underground and was taken away for investigation.

Most crashes that happen dont occur at 575 miles an hour.

There's no debris scattered due to the high speed impact which disintegrated everything. If it was a "normal" crash there would of been debris.

Try taking a car and drop it out of an airplane till it reaches 500 MPH. Let's see how much debris is left. Oh dont forget, fill the gas tank so what is left over has fire to burn with.

The ONLY some what, itty bit of possibility, would be something was damaged on the aircraft i.e. shot. Maybe a control surface was broken, that's why they went inverted and straight into the field. That bit of information - hey it COULD be possible.

I am, however, going to stick with my first thought. The passengers tried to overcome the hijackers. In the brawl and fighting, the person flying did not want to surrender the controls at any cost and purposely put it into the ground. Remember, these were suicide bombers - they had nothing to lose. If anything, they wanted to GUARANTEE the loss of life.

Well, apparantely the :sarcasm: tag wasn't needed.

I apologize for misinterpreting your post. I am not truly confident on my sources either but since there are different sources that provide similar info I think there are some points that could be taken as valid.

I doubt the flight landed safely somewhere a couple of hours later, while I have little doubt that we shot the aircraft down.
