Yep. First accusation I get, I'm pulling myself off duty for a breathalizer test.

I think that's the only responsible thing to do. Even here (135), I'd do the same.

why wasnt there a reserve crew there to take the flight after the orginal crew knew they would be 2.5 hours late?

Because most airlines don't keep reserve crews at the outstations.
