They use their LHR slots for SEA-LHR and we use ours to open PDX-LHR.

I'm afraid we are all going to lose this battle. We gave up bottom end scope. This top end scope is the biggest threat to our careers.

Buddy passes are a good perk, trust your friends, make sure they accept full liability if they get stranded and they know how to dress(which in many cases can even be a t-shirt and shorts), and be a good friend.

I think the problem is "my friends's ex wive's mailman wants a buddy pass" comes up and people don't use them for actual "buddies", and they give them out to people they know but don't know that well, or maybe aren't that close of friends and that's where the hesitation comes from. But yeah, personally unless the person has nonreved a lot before I don't like giving anything out because it's almost as much stress for me as it is for them if something goes tatas up. I don't want to wake up to 40 texts/phone calls from their 530am adventure saying "ZOMG THE FLIGHT IS OVERSOLD NOW/CANCELED WHAT DO I DO?!".
Not to mention they're so bottom of the barrel priority (most of the time) that they're next to useless anyway. Sometimes it's hard enough for me to get where I want to go even being CASS eligible.

Haha well if you're careful who you give them to, none of that is an issue. An open seat is an open seat, if people know how to non-rev, power to them I say. I just feel like too many airline employees are afraid to use their passes, even when people on my passes got stranded and bought tickets, it wasn't much of a hassle for me, because frankly I was a richard about it and told them "IF this happens then you're SOL, but have a nice flight" so it was understood from the get go that all I would do was re-list, if possible, or refund.

Eh that doesn't always work either. I remember when I worked hub ops years and years ago I had a friend come out and visit me DFW, I had to go work, and I explained that the 3pm flight home looked like crap and that she probably wouldn't be able to get on it, but the 4pm was wide open and she'd have no issues there. Sure enough I get to work, and 2:50pm rolls by and I get a call from her in tears because she got bumped and now she'll never get home! Last time I put someone on passes.

I don't give out buddy passes. Not because I'm worried about my friends acting a fool, but because I don't want to be airborne when they need some help trying to get from A to B and there is nothing I can do.

I'd like to think all my friends know how to act, and dress when in public. I could be wrong, but I don't think I am.
