United and Yoga Pants

Once? That's an old one.

I've been told I can't jumpseat on delta because I'm not Skywest!

I actually got denied on Delta because my ID didn't say Skyteam on it. A supervisor straightened that one out.

And yes, the uniform thing is sadly common.

EDIT: On the flip side we've been having a few guys try to jumpseat on us in shorts or cargo pants, sneakers and a tshirt. Also had a United pilot not actually check in (for a seat in the back) which is good because if we'd found out about her prior to getting to Maui we would have seen she was in a skirt and tanktop.

I wear mine to clear security then it goes away. Last thing I want when I'm NR is to be asked questions related to navigating an airport just because I have a badge on. Although it sometimes does come in handy to save 20 cents on an $8 airport coffee

It seems skywest encourages id wear when non revving because they are the most aggregious offenders of Id displayed

But it's Hawaii!

Sitting on the jumpseat the other day the Captain almost booted off some cabin jumpseat FAs for wearing leggings and tennis shoes. He told the purser to advise them they probably shouldn't dress like that, and we closed the door and left early.

While I understand the whole "comfort" thing, I still can't side with these children and thier "legions" of supports who think United was being a big fat meanie about the dress code. It's not that hard, at least for me, to dress comfortable in a very conservative manner. Heck, I'm more comfortable in a dress shirt and slacks than just about anything, save for jeans.

Then again, I've worn some highly uncomfortable things in not so pleasant environments.

Geeze this whole thing is stupid. I feel bad for the employee about to lose their flight benefits over this. Honestly this is such a non issue, the gate agent asked the girls to change, the girls changed...should have been the end of the story.

The employee probably won't lose their benefits, as long as the pass riders didn't make a fuss.

Only time mine is out. If I need to catch the jump seat instead of a ride in the back I like to stick out a little for the flight crew. Other than that it's in my pocket or getting my discount at Caribou Coffee!

I hate being recognized when commuting or non-revving. I try to hide the fact that I'm crew.

"Excuse, where is baggage claim?"

"You see that HUGE sign we're standing under? Just follow the signs."

When I was at the last shop, who flew nothing but Delta passengers at the time, I had a gate agent give an AMR only pilot the JS about 40 minutes before the doors closed, and refused to give me the JS to get to work. Needed a Red Coat to straighten that issue out.

"You're supposed to be here an hour before."

"No, the jump seat is supposed to be released to someone OFL fifteen minutes prior"

"He was here first."

"Fly's American Passengers, I fly Delta passengers, I have priority. It goes Delta....etc."

"I already gave it to him, if a seat opens up (it was over sold, and they were buying people out), you'll get it."

"There are no open seats, I have priority. Call a Red Coat please."

"I don't have time for that. Go have a seat."

I ended up finding a red coat, and explaining to him what was going on. The gate door had already closed, but the hadn't closed the airplane door. Thankfully, the Red Coat knew what the issue was, and issued me a JS pass. I felt bad for the other guy, but he was headed to an event, and I was heading to work.

My go to answer is, "I'm new and not too familiar with this airport." Most of the time it's true. I don't have a mental map of every airport I go to.
