United Airbus Engine Fire

Oh that’s a thing now.

Respectfully, of course. Moohoohawwww!

Are you going to give out J.C. official Dr. in Psychiatry certificates? I think @Skåning needs one or why not just give him two. The second one could be the online diagnosis certificate add on. Plus a J.C. Doctorate in Dermatology as well.

I can’t even pretend to understand the genesis of any of the above.

As the French would ask… “Le WAT!?” :)

Oh man I'm sorry. A pilot diagnosing someone's health on J.C. has become so common and tolerated that it's just normal now. My bad.

I ran a OpenAI analysis of CC a few months back, but I didn’t think anyone took it seriously! :)

I can find the posts and quote them here if you'd like. It snowed, melted, froze and then snowed again. So I can't leave the house today.

Passenger-initiated evacuations are a pain in the rump.

..."Emergency evacuation checklist, I guess."

Part of my RTO brief is that when we reject, distance remaining dependent, I will slow to a taxi speed but I won’t stop rolling. Once we command “remain seated” and the jet comes to a stop, the flight attendants jump up and asses exits. Which seems to prime people to get ready to jump out. (Even though the whole time they’re assessing, they’re shouting “remain seated, remain seated”)

It’s a technique to try and prevent this- but it’s all theory.

Hopefully this wasn’t actually a passenger initiated evacuation, but to be honest I didn’t hear obstinant passengers during the pre evacuation part of the video, just fear and concern.
I’ll bet that was the biggest scare that many of them have had in a while, if not in their whole life, so it’s understandable that they may not behave as though they’ve been through multiple airline passenger training and checking events before being allowed to travel.

🙂

Yeah, but what happened to listening to people in positions of authority and following instructions?

That's a rhetorical question, by the way. The general public in this country knows way more than the people that do this for a living. They saw it on a TikTok once.

Yeah, that is why started my post with the words “ hopefully this wasn’t a passenger initiated evacuation”.
Has it been determined that it was a passenger initiated evacuation? Do the comments uttered in fear by someone possibly 30-50 feet away from the person making their PA mean they didn’t listen to that crew members words and that they’re not complying?

Again, I’m not aware of who ended up initiating the evacuation, but I’m also not willing to assume that someone who made a comment under fear and duress was doing it to undermine the authority of the crewmember making the PA.

Unfortunately, yes.

I don't know what the culture is like over there, and maybe flight attendants are viewed as glorified cabin maids. If they were to tell me the wing that they can actually see, and I can't, is on fire, they've got a little bit of credibility out of the gate.

Listening to authority figures is so '90s, these days peoples feelings are the most important thing and that's simply how it is. Didn't used to be that way but it is now. There is no authority anymore unless you decide to acknowledge it.

Yes—a little.
