Unique Way to Give Something Back to Aviation.

Nice to see more airports do this instead of chasing people way from watching planes. PDK in Atlanta has got an awesome area for watching planes. Always full too.

It is. Someone needs to donate a radio receiver and speakers.

I agree. Here at GRR, they have it set up so you can listen to the traffic over an AM radio station. It is a very popular spot for people to go eat lunch, or run around with their kids while watching airplanes. Makes me smile.

Milwaukee has an awsome spot to watch the airport. And it has AM radio hooked up to ground and tower. Across the street there is a nice park too.

That's really cool. Just hope it doesn't become a place for drug deals and teens to go neckin.:laff:

Does anyone know of any good spots around KPHX to watch planes from? I tried taking my son once but was ran off by the police and they wouldn't tell me if there were any "approved" areas.

Terminal 3 or 4 parking garage roofs. The only problem is you have to pay to park there... Unless you park in the economy lot then ride the inter-terminal bus to the terminal. Also an area around Lane ave that peeps sit at and watch landings on the north runway. Its near Lane Ave and 44th st and thats free.

That sounds really cool. I know down in Lakeland, the open then closed then open again restaurant in the FBO (which recently reopened) has a radio and speakers at each table against the window, so you can listen while you eat your food.

Thanks! Google maps doesn't show a Lane Ave, but now i know that the northeast side is better. I'll use the parking garage as a backup/

Anyone remember Boom Trenchard's Flare Path restaurant on San Diego's Lindbergh Field? You sat about 500' down the main runway, also overlooked the GA runway approach end. Great view! Seats on the glass had speakers. Popular with Navy Pilots too. It did have a short appearance in the movie Top Gun but if you blinked you missed it.

Oops! My bad. Its Air Lane ave. Thats the road just north of the north runway by 40th st. Its next to Honeywell. There is a dirt patch that cars park and watch planes.
