Unintentional king air pilot Comms and radar track.

. WOW!!!! What a good job from all the controlers keeping him calm. And great work from the impromptu pilot keeping his head cool as well. I would hate to be put in that situation, but what a story for the grandkids.

Good god, I almost had tears in my eyes listening to this. I can't imagine how frightened I'd have been in my private pilot days if this would have happened, even now I'd be more than uncomfortable in that situation, and I have plenty of 1900C experience. Can you imagine that, pulling your pilot slumped over dead out of the left seat, coming into it with no previous SA for the current situation without any experience in IFR or big motors. That's one hell of a job! Did it say how much total time the guy had?

I remember this, come to find out didn't this guy own the airplane (his company). I wonder if he has had his new pilot give him a pinch hitters course on the king air, like like it is still registered to white leasing, and it's blocked from flightaware

Pretty good job for ASEL with 240 hours and his family in back and a deceased pilot all over the place.
He kept his voice under control, but relief set in fast as ATC congratulated him, I could tell.

That was a great job by the controllers. I remember this happening, but to hear it is amazing. Great job!!!!!

The Youtube comments say he hadn't flown since 1990. He did an amazing job for being that far from current. Anyone know what the cause of death was? Did he have the fish?

...oops just read the AOPA article. He stopped flying in the early 90's but has been working on an IFR ticket just months before the incident. Still did an amazing job though.
