Uniform Coats

I actually prefer my double-breasted coat far an above any of the leather jackets I've seen.

A little anachronistic, but when worn well, very stylish.

The leather jacket plus hat just reminds me of this:

All time worst airline pilot look: Leather jacket with epaulets, hat. I saw an Eagle crew decked out in that mess and they looked like they were about two steps away from donning mirrored aviators, fake moustaches, and calling one another Goose and Maverick. It was terrible.

My companies leather jcaket is poorly cut, overpriced, and leaves dye all over your collar. Not for me.

I totally dig the blazer, and wear it as often as weather will allow, but not the hat. If they force us to wear it, fine, I'll wear it, but not if I have the option. I find it a bit absurd that a military-styled hat is worn in the terminal when every military code of conduct in the free world forbids the wearing of one's cover indoors. It always has, and I suspect it always will, look awkward, forced, and vainglorious to me.

Heh. One of the guys in my new hire class was telling me about a CA he flew with not too long ago. The guy wore the leather jacket, the hat pulled down low, and (get this) leather gloves. He said all he needed was some dust and sand, and he was gonna start calling him "Rommel."

BTW, I totally dig Delta's double brested blazer look. Then again, I also own a pair of patent leather wing tip shoes....

Nice of you to post a photo where you can do a direct comparison between the look of leather and those uber-fashionable double breasted coats you guys wear. Didn't realize yours had the red lapels and funky belt with it though...
