Uniform Coats

So, I noticed that not a whole lot of pilots wear the traditional suit-like jacket as part of their uniform (see pic below) -

I've heard that alot of airlines have actually done away with them..

That was the best part of the uni!!!
 
yea, i agree...if they start getting rid of all the coats, how are ya gonna score chicks? ;)
 
I always liked the uniform. I noticed Jetblue pilots don't wear caps. I don't know why that bothers me so much but it does.

Because it is untraditional. (I agree, I don't really want to see those bald heads, and the cap makes the entire uniform classic and classy ;) )
 
By the way, never underestimate the power of a nice suit. Why do you think that ladies always want men to wear them?? They look nice. And they are attractive. And they make men look more attractive. And I have some very nice suits. So I guess the attractive part applies to the gals too. :)
 
well when i flew delta on sun morning out of jfk the two gentlemen were wearing the blazers. now when they got up to the cockpit and built their "nests" the tie and jacket came off. as long as you look presentable when the majority of the public sees you i have no problem. if you look like you just got done with a street fight then i have a problem.
 
I wear my blazer year round. And wear the cap too. I might leave the cap behind on really warm days in the summer, but for the most part I try to keep it professional.

It doesn't matter what airline you fly for, you can always find those folks who like they just got out of bed. Sad indeed.
 
We are required to wear the blazer from October to May. Some people do the leather jacket thing and nobody really says anything. The hat is required, although many people don't wear it at all (myself included). Due to the merger with America West (who never had hats) hats are now optional at mainline and will no longer exist after the uniform change over next year.
 
We can either wear the blazer, leather jacket or a sweater with epaulets from Nov 1st-May 1st. Its required. I personally like the leather jacket because I can jam it in an overhead bin when Im DHing and it doesnt get wrinkled or I can take the bling off on an overnight up north and not worry about bringing another coat along with me. Ive got a blazer, but I generally only wear it when its to warm for the leather jacket.
 
Speaking of clothing. I'm an idiot.
Left St. louis...85 degrees.
So I wear shorts and a UConn Shirt.
Arrive Milwaukee...32 degrees and light snow.
DON'T THESE PEOPLE KNOW ITS SPRING.

Well, it's not technically spring until March 21st so they have 6 days to catch up!

I thought it was October 1st - March 31st, at least I hope it is. It was warm down here this week. I also heard from a union rep that hats aren't required because mainline dictates our uniform and they don't require the hat.
