Is UND keeping their warriors or are the new 172s pushing them out for good?
if so, how long do the warriors have left there?

I heard they are only buying 25 172s![]()
typically progression for undergrads into a new A/C is:Well piper decided that they will not build more warriors or arrows... ever. As such, we needed more warriors to continue training. Well, we called up Cessna and they had more than a few 172's ready to go, so... Cessna here we come.
They're expensive though and it's not like we're loaded with cash, so it's going to be another 2 years or so until every last warrior is out the door. Undergrad 102 training in the cessna should be this spring or next summer. We MIGHT do undergrad 222's starting this fall in the cessna. Right now Air China, and all 414/415's are in the cessna. As we get more, more students will be in them. It will be the total fleet for single engine non-complex non-aerobatic in 2 years.
Hope that helps!

glass cockpits, especially with how most instruct at UND make horribly dumb pilots. 98% of my 325 students don't have any situational awareness w/o a moving map due to learning on the glass w/ 4 pinks lines. What UND grads are gonna know how to use those rudders now??? INSANE!!

Seriously though, I've seen good 221 students learn on the 6 pack, then go to 222(this is when we just started having the WARG) and totally lose their scan and whatnot. Glass cockpits make dumb pilots.

such brilliance, all glass fleet, since everyone is getting hired into jets with 250 hours now!!
:banghead:
no six packs at all? completely asinine.
Not right now and not anytime soon...
But I agree, doing initial training in Glass is BS.
Who fly's the 172's? We had one come in and the kid didn't even know how to taxi, I have no idea how he managed to make the trip out here (STC). After a few bad radio calls and the UND plane not moving, tower finally said..."see the company airplane on the ramp? TAXI THERE"
CFI applicants, CFII applicants, and Air China students fly the 172. If I had to guess, I would say it was an Air China student on a solo XC.
Easy as to why its that bad. Money is the answer. But I have friends teaching Air China's at other location and there horror stories are far worse. In fact my best bud saw a Air China Student not only break the rules but also kill his buddy.

Sierra Academy in Atwater, CA. Use to work there. I will never never never never fly on a Chinese airline...period. Enough said.
