UND & Mesaba/\"Direct Hire\" programs

Can anyone post the stats on how many UND grads get hired at Mesaba with reduced flight times? What does it take to be considered for this program? Do only a select few students qualify? All in all, how valuable is going to UND (or any aviation U.) just to get into a 'direct track" program. I have been searching the news releases for ERAU, UND ect and can't find any info.

You would think if so many of their grads were getting hired, you can be sure they would be advertising the fact and it's no where to be found. I bet it's much more likely that very few students are selected for such opportunities.

havent really heard about a direct hire program. typically if you have the magical 500 and 100 you can get hired at most regionals. on of our leads got hired @XJ last year and he had 1400 i think.

Specifically, how many of the program grads were hired with half the published minimums? Those with over 1,000TT probably qualified on their own. I am interested in how many low timers are getting job offers via such programs and what precentage of those that go to UND actually get such offers.

I personally know a few that were hired at Horizon with 750 tt and 50 multi. There are several more I don't know about. I also know over 30 were hired at Piedmont with 500 tt and 50 multi. Many others were hired at AE and ExpressJet also in the past year.

Agreed. One of our instructors was hired with 850TT/52ME at Piedmont and was in the December new hire class...

(he was a UND-grad)

you would think that if they had an agreement with someone that they would advertise the hell out of it, but the more I think about it, UND doesn't really do much advertising at all anymore.

I never even knew that UND had any direct hire programs. Well when I read their broshure on their aerospace department they ahd something like "Spectrum" pilot program. And it did mention it had ties with Horizion but thats all. So UND not bragging about their other "connections", "direct hire" programs, even gives me a little more faith in the school in that they are not just one big giant advertising machine like DCA, CAPT, or RAA would be.
