UND Flight Team

Shine some light on the aerobatic team?

Would a member have to have already taken the Acro course and (ovi) have a tail dragger rating?

Acro team - take the acro course, do well at it, show some skill/talent/ability/interest.

There is an informational meeting about acro team generally in the winter/spring.

Acro team kicks major butt, we won the national championship of collegiate aerobatics last year, and I expect more butt kicking to continue.

Basically, you practice flying the maneuvers and sequences on your own dime, at a discounted rate, then UND covers costs for flying to/from competitions, lodging, etc.

Its a LOT of fun.

Not in Foreigner land. IIRC, you need to get a signoff of some sort to act as PIC in many countries. A lot of places in Africa want a "Cessna 206 type rating, or experience on type."

*yeah that*

in most parts of the world you have a type for every aircraft.

I still want to know how Riddle, UND, and WMU always manage to kick so much butt at nationals. Is it the specialization? Do y'all practice insane amounts? Performance-enhancing drugs?

I always chugged a good amount of Red Bull and listened to the most brutal speed metal possible before strapping in.

And yes, the acro team flies the 8KCAB... its a shame they don't have a Pitts S2C though... I would have loved to kick some butts and take names with that fine piece of machinery...
